The Soplao Cave has become one of the most famous despite being open to the public only from July 1, 2005. The Soplao is a cave located in the towns of Rionansa, and HerrerÃas Valdáliga in Cantabria (Spain). This place was discovered by chance while conducting a mining exploration work.
The Cave Soplao has become internationally famous due to the abundance, beauty and spectacular formations eccentric treasures in its 17 kilometers of galleries, of which only 6 are open to the public. The interior is a natural paradise because of its dense surfaces of aragonite, stalactites, stalagmites, formations and very rare as helictites (eccentric stalactites defy gravity ) and draperies (formations similar to flags hanging on the ceiling ). The ceiling is an area considered as the Sistine Chapel of the underworld because of its conservation and grandeur.
