The Gili islands are located in Indonesia. It is an archipelago with a very paculiar form. From an aerial view, it looks like three spots that are placed in the turquoise sea in a tropical paradise.
Gili Islands (Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air) depart from a larger island (Lombok, the natural alternative to Bali), in West Nusa Tenggara province.
Tourism development is quite rustic and limited, so there is hardly any tourist cabins and restaurants.
“Gili” means “small island” in the ethnic language of Sasak. This is a way of referring to many of the islands in the area. However, in the western tourism circuit, this island trio is called Gili.
