The Band-e Amir, or Bandi Amir lakes are a chained series of lakes formed by natural dams of marble and mineral deposits that hold an incredible turquoise water walled by cliffs and mountains that seem sculpted forms.

The landscape has become the first National Park in Afghanistan. Access to the area is not easy because of the lack of roads and mines planted by militants and the Taliban.
