What better place to celebrate Valentine’s than in one of the most romantic cities in Italy? Yes, we’re talking about Verona.
The dreamlike atmosphere of the city was immortalized by William Shakespeare, in his most famous work, “Romeo and Juliet”.
In 2006, the city has enriched its tourist offer with an ad hoc program for San Valentino: Verona in Love. It waits for the engaged couples of all ages from February 11 to 14, 2012. In addition to the classic tour of Romeo and Juliet (you can visit the house and the tomb of Juliet for just 1 euro), you can attend concerts and other romantic events.
Romanticism and charity have joined in the “Message of the Heart”, in the Courtyard of the Mercato Vecchio. All lovers can write a sentence or a message on the great message board and the proceeds will be donated to an association for the children in Dominican Republic.
A photographic exhibition dedicated for all lovers in Verona will be staged in Piazza Arsenale. There will also be a series of films and performances.
Another nice initiative is “A Heart of Kisses”. The most courageous couples may enter into a special gazebo in the shape of heart in Piazza dei Signori and those who kisses the longest will be immortalized in a photo.
