Michoacan’s Legendary Flavors

Michoacan, located in central Mexico, has a unique cuisine which helped the Mexico’s cuisine win the honor of being declared a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

The cooks from different regions of the state are dedicated in promoting dishes like aporreadillo (prepared with garlic, onion, chile, spices, cilantro, tomato, egg and beef jerky), dulce de chilacayota (squash) or rabbit in adobo.

The cuisine of Morelia is concentrated in the blocks of the historic center, the restaurants of the hotels that surround it, and even in markets that are based in nearby areas.

Another place to visit is the Museo del Dulce on Calle Real, which has a boutique candy monastic heritage of the monasteries who settled in the country.
